Teaching-Learning Symposium

Find information about annual ISU’s conference on teaching and learning. Every January, CTLT invites a nationally-recognized keynote speaker and organizes breakout sessions presented by ISU faculty and teaching assistants.

Workshops By Request New in 2008

This service offers sessions on topics that you care about, when you need them, and where you want them. Sessions are available to all departments, colleges, and other campus units. They are scheduled when interested instructors can attend at a location convenient to participants.

Teaching Excellence Series

Come and exchange ideas with fellow faculty. Each semester, you will find new series of workshops on specific teaching topics. Series can include roundtable discussions, panel discussions and hands-on workshops.

Faculty Prep Week

CTLT offers unstructured coaching sessions to support you as you prepare for the upcoming semester. Faculty Prep Week is scheduled for the week before classes begin for the spring and fall semesters. Sessions include coaching in first day strategies, syllabus construction, WebCT, Clickers, Large classroom strategies and more.

Professional Development Circles

Join your first-year peers in Professional Development Circles that are designed to reduce your stress and increase your success. Circles are led by a facilitator, who will guide group discussion, arrange contacts with key individuals and provide information about campus resources and opportunities.

Teaching Learning Communities

Get together with like-minded teachers in the Teaching Learning Communities (TLC). The TLC is a form of reciprocal, peer mentoring and typically involves four to six instructors from various levels (TAs through full professors) and disciplines working together on their teaching.

Welcome to ISU! Starting a new job is challenging to everyone, but we’ll make it easier. Attend New Faculty Orientation and get essential information including benefits, campus technology and college missions and regulations. New Faculty Orientation is also a great place to meet other new faculty, veteran faculty and administrators.
