New Faculty “Professional Development Circles”

Launching an academic career is a daunting challenge, especially if you try to do it alone. Join your first-year peers in a program designed to reduce your stress and increase your success. You are warmly invited to join CTLT’s “professional development circle.” Here are the basics:

  • Circles are made up of small groups of first-year faculty peers that meet regularly and have conversations online.
  • Each group will be led by a facilitator, who will organize the sessions, lead collaboration on setting each group’s agenda, arrange contacts with key individuals, provide information about campus resources and opportunities, etc. Topics will be responsive to your interests, and track your priorities in your first semester and first year.
  • Each group will have access to master mentors, selected for their knowledge, enthusiasm, experience, and interest in mentoring new faculty. They will provide specialized mentoring to each group (and individuals within the groups) based on their areas of expertise (e.g., effective teaching, developing a research program, early preparation for ASPT processes, balancing professional and personal life, etc.).
Information about the next round of Professional Development Circles will be available late August. Please check back later.
